RECALL: A History with The Storey
21st October – 1st November 2017 at The Storey, Meeting House Lane, Lancaster LA1 1TH
The group of artists represented in this exhibition, RECALL, are a selection of the Fine Art graduates from the nascent and formative years of what is
currently the BA (Hons) Fine Art course, University of Central Lancashire, Preston.
Initially the beautiful Storey building in Lancaster, housed the B.A. (Hons) Fine Art course, along with several other courses over a number of years and it is therefore significant and appropriate that the first part of this exhibition should sit in the now named ‘The Gallery at The Storey’.
Based at the Lancaster annexe of the then Preston Polytechnic, all of these artists graduated in Fine Art between 1977 and 1980 inclusive. This exhibition is therefore a collection of recent work by both graduates from 40 years ago and by some members of staff / practicing artists, also from that period.
RECALL represents a reunion of both artwork and artists, each having traversed their individual paths over the past 40 years and coming back together for this unique exhibition that is both rich in content and historically pertinent to The Storey building.
As a group, they represent a wide variety of art practices, relationships with fine art and span a range of professional accomplishments, some directly
within the fine art genre, some within allied professions whilst others having careers parallel to their art practices or backgrounds in fine art.
