Since The Radish (New Street, Lancaster) opened it has quickly become one of our favourite places to grab lunch! They serve yummy fresh food, have wonderful staff and have art on the walls, what is not to love?!
We’re very lucky that The Radish are big supporters of First Friday and they’ve taken time out of their busy schedule to take off their apron’s to write us a blog all about First Friday’s. Enjoy!
Here at the Radish we love First Fridays!! We opened in January and since March we have managed to exhibit and be part of this Lancaster rolling monthly art scene, and it’s been brilliant!
It’s been amazing to discover that there are so many talented artists in and around Lancaster doing and creating and and pushing the arts. That includes all the artists and musicians and the people of Arts City Lancaster who organise the events that happen every month!
We completely love being a part of this!
For us it’s a really nice way to market our business too, and it’s so simple to organise! The lovely artists hang their work, and we open for the First Friday evening between 5pm – 8pm. We have an open invitation and everyone who turn up are made very welcome.
On a First Fridays at the Radish you will always find gorgeous art on the walls, lots of nice people, and more often than not – a free drink.
You can come and browse at the art, chat to the artist and all the other friendly folk, or just have a sit down.
There’s usually something else going on to keep you entertained.
In the past we’ve had the choir crawl ‘Sass’ pop by for a song, a folk music duo Jane Lawrence on fiddle and Hugh Tuffen on the cello.
We’ve had a pattern making workshop with Bonnie Craig and a solo performance by singer/songwriter Mr Ben.
There’s always so much going on in town that night and the people of Lancaster need sustenance to get them round all the events so we lay on a
First Friday Special – something delicious & exciting in a home made flat bread and served with one of our delicious salads and covered with a tasty dressing.
We have the full selection of coffees, hot and cold drinks and much needed scrumptious Cake, (some vegan and gluten free) alongside other nibbles to see you through the night. All available to eat in, or take away to the next event on your arty itinerary.
