Lancaster Jazz Festival are running a Local Artists Commission for this years festival. If you know anyone who you think might be interested – please circulate this in their direction…
As part of our 2020 Festival, Lancaster Jazz Festival wants to celebrate one of the most important things about our festival – our community. To do this we are launching a special commission for artists based in the Lancaster region, to create a performance of original music inspired by the Lancaster area.
We want to leave as much room as possible for your creative process, there is no set form or style, the piece should mean something to you and reflect the great community, diversity and beauty of Lancaster.
The criteria are very simple:
- Artists must live within the Lancaster region ( LA1, LA2, LA3, LA4, LA5 and LA6 postcodes).
- Artists are to create a performance of between 30 – 45 minutes long to be performed at Lancaster Jazz Festival in September 2020.
- The performance can be solo, big band or anything in between.
- There is a limited budget of up to £1,500 depending on the size of group and you should detail a simple budget outline in your proposal.
Artists who wish to apply for the commission should submit a proposal including an outline of their piece (no more than 1000 words), performance details (musician numbers, line-up and any specific technical requirements), and a brief budget to lucy@lancasterjazz.com.
The closing date for proposals is Monday 24th February 2020.
If you have any questions about this opportunity, please contact a member of the festival team on info@lancasterjazz.com
