Calling all light artists: open call
Light up the North (LUTN) is a network of northern light festivals which have come together to share their collective expertise to support both the development of the partner festivals and the wider sector. They have just launched SPARK and SHINE 2024.
SHINE: will nurture and develop new talent and is open to anyone with an idea for a light artwork, and the skills to realise that idea. Artists will be awarded bursaries between £9,500 and £15,000 to realise ambitious new artworks which will appear at several of our LUTN festivals. Each artist will also receive a full induction to the programme, as well as training and mentoring from across the LUTN partnership.
Deadline: Monday 29 April 2024, 9am.
For SHINE. LUTN will be holding an information webinar on Wednesday 10th April, 1pm and 6.30pm. It will introduce the programme and hear from previous successful commissions; Polyrhythms By Axolotl (Chris Ball, George Babington and Richard Babington) and Butterflies by Anne Bennett.
SPARK: is open to new and emerging artists who want to develop light-based and digital work for light festivals. LUTN will support you through workshops, networking and talks to complement two LUTN festivals, Light Up Lancaster and Light Night Wigan.
Deadline 24th May 2024, 5pm.
