Since the lockdown we have been very busy at Lancaster Arts! We’ve reflected on how we, together with artists, can best contribute to these very hard times and have been looking at imaginative ways of enabling artists to ease isolation and disconnectedness. Each strand of our Breathing Space programme (listed below) is designed to help people connect with each other and at the same time, support the freelance artistic community in the northwest.

a-n The Artists Information Company is offering bursaries of £500 – £1,500 to help support those whose livelihoods have been impacted by Coronavirus Covid-19. Time Space Money is an emergency response fund to support artists and arts organisers to enable them to continue their professional practice at this critical time.

The Dukes are seeking a Marketing Manager
Vacancy For Marketing Manager at The Dukes. The Dukes is Lancashire’s leading producing theatre, independent cinema and creative learning centre. We work across a range of art-forms in indoor and outdoor settings. We wish to appoint a Marketing Manager to ensure the effective and efficient marketing of The Dukes and the maximum possible audience development in line with the Company’s artistic policy. 39 hours a week, £25,000 – £26,500 per annum dependent on experience.
Local Artists commission for Lancaster Jazz Festival
Lancaster Jazz Festival are launching a special commission for artists based in the Lancaster region, to create a performance of original music inspired by the Lancaster area.
Administrative Assistant – Required at Lancaster Litfest
Litfest (Lancaster Literature Festival) – requires an Administrative assistant for 7 hours per week (flexible working). This will be a one-year contract at £10.16 per hour. The closing date is 5pm, 19th January and interviews will take place on the evening of the 27th January at The Storey, Lancaster. The successful candidate should be able to start at the beginning of February if at all possible.
Mayor of Lancaster launches poetry competition
The Mayor of Lancaster is asking local children to put pen to paper to help find his Young Poet Laureates of the year with the theme being “Unity in the Community”.
Councillor David Whitaker has launched a quest to find this year’s Lancaster District’s Young Poet Laureates and is asking budding writers to write an original poem of no more than 40 lines. The theme “Unity in the Community” is asking local children to look at how we can make our communities stronger, more tolerant and show respect for each other. There are two categories: Junior Poet Laureate (up to age 11) and Young Poet Laureate (12-16).
