It is with great pleasure we can now announce: WE ARE RE-OPENING!
from Friday 11th June
The horizon for our lives has been curtailed: our view restricted. We are now in a place of rediscovery and of redefining who, what and where we are.
Exhibition: Although not themed: ‘Beyond the Horizon’ is an exhibition of work created, largely during this time of limitation, by artists belonging to the King Street Artists Associate Group. It reflects upon the ability, and limitless energy and imaginative power of the creative spirit, to bring into our lives this reward of colour, line and form. The exhibition runs from 11th June to 14th August.
Our opening exhibition is a show of 19 local artists, from the King Street Associate Artist Group, who have stuck together and stayed in touch during this challenging year.
Much of the work has been produced over the last year and is a joyous celebration of the power of art and creativity to lift your spirits. We hope you will want to come and take a look.
There’s lots to see: paintings, printmaking, ceramics, as well as prints and cards. Work by some artists you may recognise and some new artists too.
How to visit us: Book Your Visit Slot Online
You can arrange your very own private view (up to half an hour) by clicking the link below.
https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/157933530441
Timed entry slots are available until the end of June.
After that, we will review our opening arrangements in line with government rules for gallery opening. Bring a friend or a relative and share the experience! If you are unable to make the times at the link and would like to see the exhibition, do ring us and we may be able to arrange an individual appointment time with you.
Please do let us know if you book a time and can’t make it so we can make it available for others; we expect to be busy so want to be able to offer slots to everyone.
Safety in Mind
When you visit, we will be observing necessary safety criteria. For your safety, we will be wearing face masks and ask you to do the same. The spaces will be ventilated with open windows and hand sanitiser will be available to use throughout the spaces…
By reducing numbers initially, we hope people will feel safe to visit us.
What’s New at King Street?
While we’ve been closed as a gallery, we have been busy making some changes in the space.. We won’t spoil the surprise for when you visit but will be interested to hear your thoughts when you do..
Our New Name
We have changed our name to King Street Arts.
It’s nearly four years since we first opened. As an organisation, we have grown greatly in that time, and we feel that our new name reflects what we do now. Many of you may have found us as a place to come and see a great range of high-quality art, but we also offer creative workshops, events, (poetry readings, music nights etc). As a visual arts organisation, we also offer support to artists, via our artist network group, (King Street Associate Artists), and affordable studio space for professional artists. In the future, we know we will have to adapt to a changing world, and expect that what we offer to you, and to artists, will evolve too.
