Who we are
Formed in 2009, the Lancaster Arts Partnership (“LAP”) is a consortium of organizations working together to champion and promote the strategic development of excellent arts activities in Lancaster District. LAP are organizers of Light Up Lancaster and promoters of the Lancaster Arts City website.
At LAP we are committed to maintaining the trust and confidence of website visitors. In particular, we want you to know that LAP is not in the business of selling, renting or trading email lists with other companies and businesses for marketing purposes. We just don’t do that sort of thing. But just in case you don’t believe us, in this Privacy Policy, we’ve provided lots of detailed information on when and why we collect your personal information, how we use it, the limited conditions under which we may disclose it to others and how we keep it secure. Now grab a cuppa and read on…
Types of data we collect
LAP identifies itself as a Data Controller under Data Protection law. You may lodge a complaint with the ICO in the event of LAP’s non-compliance with applicable Data Protection law, or the relevant competent authority in your legal jurisdiction. LAP is a cloud-enabled business, meaning that during the normal course of interacting with LAP, your personal data may be stored outside of the EU. We only use Cloud services (such as Dropbox) that have met the necessary standards such as ISO 27001 and the US-EU Privacy Shield to protect and store your data. We cannot absolutely guarantee the security of any information that you transmit to us via the internet and remind you that you do so at your own risk. All personal details – Personally Identifiable Information (PII)- are held on encrypted devices, protected with password protection which where possible is dual-factor authenticated.
Website Cookies
Like most websites, the LAP website use non-personally identifying ‘cookies’ to collect information. Cookies are small data files which are placed on your computer or other devices (such as smart ‘phones or ‘tablets’) as you browse the website. They are used to ‘remember’ when your computer or device accesses our websites. We do not use cookies to collect or record information on your name, address or other contact details. These cookies are stored on your computer or other device when you access our website.
If you want to disable cookies you need to change your website browser settings to reject cookies. How you can do this will depend on the specific browser you use. N.B. Our website may not operate properly if cookies are switched off.
Google Analytics
When someone visits www.artscity.co.uk we use a third party service, Google Analytics, to collect non-personally identifying standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.
Mailing Lists
LAP offers visitors the opportunity to sign up to the LAP mailing list. As part of the registration process for this we collect some limited personal information. We use that information for a couple of reasons: to tell you about stuff you’ve asked us to tell you about; to contact you if we need to obtain or provide additional information; to check our records are right and to check every now and then that you’re happy and satisfied. We don’t rent or trade email lists with other organisations and businesses.
We use a third-party provider, MailChimp, to store our mailing list and to deliver our newsletter. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletter. For more information, please see MailChimp’s privacy policy. You can unsubscribe to our mailings at any time of the day or night by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails or by emailing us at marketing@artscity.co.uk.
Ticketing Data
We occasionally use a third-party provider, EventBrite, to offer tickets to events. When you book a ticket (or tickets), through EventBrite we may ask for your name, address data, email and contact number which will be stored on the EventBrite web system. To see how your data is handled by EventBrite you can read the EventBrite privacy policy here. Please be assured that we do not share these personal details with any other company without your consent.
Membership Transactions
LAP offers paid membership. To complete membership transactions we may require additional, personally-identifying information such as bank account number, sort code, debit card numbers etc. Please be assured that LAP will only keep your personal data in line with the minimum statutory period required, normally in the case of financial records this is 6 years. Please note that LAP has a legitimate interest and legal obligation in retaining your personal data for legal and financial record keeping purposes.
Access to your personal information
Under the 2018 GDPR legislations, you are entitled to view, amend, or delete the personal information that we hold. Email your request to our data protection officer (Johnny Bean) at marketing@artscity.co.uk
