New Theatre Season! Spring/Summer 2021

We are thrilled to be welcoming you back to The Dukes for our Spring and Summer season. We have been overwhelmed by the support The Dukes has received from all our audiences, supporters and funders over the last 12 months, so we would like to start by saying a huge thank you!

Our team have been working incredibly hard to make The Dukes a safe space as we take these first steps forward together (further information below), and we’re so excited to be inviting you back to enjoy more film, theatre and digital productions. We have missed you all so much, but we will see you very soon!

The Importance of Being Earnest

The Dukes has joined forces with the Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield to co-produce a brand new, digital adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest.

Written by Yasmeen Khan (Eastenders) and directed by Mina Anwar (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie), this is an Earnest for our times – set among the cobbles of the North and brought bang up to date and into the world of the modern sitcom.

Filmed on location at The Dukes & the LBT, the show stars Gurjeet Singh, Tom Dixon, Mina Anwar, Nikki Patel, Zoe Iqbal and Melanie Marshall, with appearances from Divina De Campo, Paul Chahidi, Hugh Dennis, Harriet Thorpe and Sindhu Vee!

Sleeping Beauty

Tuesday 25 May – Sunday 6 June

There’s another magical adventure weaving its way to The Dukes as our Round theatre transforms into the enchanting world of Sleeping Beauty – a brand new, socially distanced production!

Join two fairy godmothers as they tell the tale of Rose, a bold and daring young girl whose journey into the unknown depths of the forest puts her face-to-face with hidden castles, magic spells and a wicked, wicked fairy. Will Rose be able to break the curse and find her way home again?

Written and directed by Sarah Punshon and Daniel Bye, Sleeping Beauty is an inventive and exciting show full of storytelling, music, joy and love that promises to warm the heart.
