Facing the Past
Facing the Past is a city-wide arts and research programme whose aim is to reflect, reveal and redress omissions in the way Lancaster has commemorated its role as the UK’s fourth largest slavery port. Since the project’s first phase of public consultation and workshops last year, Facing the Past has successfully received funding from The National Heritage Lottery Fund. It is now in a major phase of recruiting for its next stage, which will include the creation and delivery of a digitised heritage research resource in the shape of a Slavery Trail Tour to be shared with 53 schools across the district.
There are currently 9 paid job opportunities available for people looking to join in, get involved with the project and help make a difference.
