June’s First Friday – A reflection

What a wonderful day we had on Friday!

June’s First Friday was extra special because it was a beautiful summer day and we had lots of people join us for an afternoon of chilled out music in the Castle Courtyard.

The gig in the courtyard was a great success and the audience loved all of the local musicians and we were very happy to have BBC North West Tonight filming live whilst headline act Luke Jackson was on stage.

Shoppers were delighted to be entertained by Eric Morecambe impersonator, Bob More, with many of the younger shoppers learning how to do magic tricks. Mike Fountain, Eric’s Chaffeur, delighted car enthusiasts by showing off Eric’s Beautiful Rolls Royce. And if you missed it, you can still pop in to Lancaster City Museum to check out the Bring Me Sunshine exhibition which continues until 10th July.

The Gallery at the Storey was buzzing with people viewing the incredible art work of Rafaele Appleby. The exhibition will be on display until 20th June so make sure you don’t miss it!

Mr Ben brought his own unique twist to The Radish displaying his artwork, which will be on display for the rest of the month, and playing his music (what a talented individual!). And The Radish provided the best falafel we’ve ever tasted, ever!

Lancaster library was bouncing with Lady Leshurr gracing the stage and even bringing two of the younger members of the audience up to be her backing dancers.

Prince fans flocked to The Dukes to watch Purple Rain and enjoyed the DJ in the bar area afterwards.

Lancaster Priory heard the acoustic delights of Dutch Prog Rock band Focus and Sir Thijs Van Leer and Menno Gootjes delighted fans both new and old.

And for those who didn’t want First Friday to end they headed off to The Gregson for an evening of Irish Music and to The Stonewell Tavern for Ukelele Juke Box.

Roll on July’s First Friday and watfch this space for all the latest news!
