July’s First Friday – a reflection

Well, we must say that July’s First Friday was truly wonderful! Lancaster was filled with dance, music and fun.

A piece of CAKE saw Market Square being dusted with pink, glittery flour as the two chefs wowed us with their dancing/cooking skills.

Bay Beat brought drumming to Market Square and saw many Lancastrians, young and old having a go. It was a joy to watch the enjoyment on everyone’s faces as they banged out some beats.

The Echoes of Men brought a few tears to the eye and stunned passers by with their beauty and grace.

The Lindy Hoppers danced the evening away in style, we were very impressed at how quickly everyone looked like true professionals!

Beautiful art work appeared as if by magic all around Lancaster, created by talented artists from 12 local schools. The art work will be up until 15th July so make sure you spot them all.

Budding directors created a feast for the eyes at the stop motion animation workshop, creating wonderful miniature films which you can watch here.

The only place to be seen on Friday evening was at the opening of Supermarché which was full of people (think the tube at rush hour!) eagerly viewing the artistic creations. Watch this space for more Supermarché events.

And the evening was topped off with Starfish at the Wagon and Horses and Sol e’ Sombria at The Stonewell Tavern.

We’ve got a lot to live up to for August’s First Friday, we’re already finalising the details and we’re pretty sure already that it’s going to be a winner!
