Due to an overwhelmingly enthusiastic response, we’ve decided to rebroadcast our first international concert, The Chants of Thar Desert.
The rebroadcast will enable us to present this concert in our traditional evening time slot, something we were unable to do in a live concert due to the time difference!

The story of how this concert came to be is an interesting one. Santiago and Ignacio Lusardi found themselves accidentally in lockdown together in Goa, where Santiago works at the university. Santiago had been visiting the villages in the Thar Desert for many years learning about how the cultures in this part of the world have influenced so many musical traditions. Ignacio, who lives and performs in the U.K. has been studying and performing Flamenco and Sefardic music for 20 years and was visiting his brother before the global lockdown occurred. This lockdown has provided a perfect opportunity for the Lusardi brothers to put together their learning, ideas and musical explorations with other musicians from around the world. We are truly delighted that they have been able to put together such a remarkable group for this occasion only: a choir from Goa and Portuguese and Indian singers to join them for this original piece of work.
