Bring Me Laughter Programme

Funded by the Wellcome Trust and running from February 22-26, this exciting week-long online event is a chance for us to celebrate, share and explore the importance of the arts for people living with dementia alongside practitioners, professionals and participants.

We’ve been joined on our journey by project partners Professor Sebastian Crutch and Professor Sophie Scott, and we’re delighted to have them with us as part of the festival. Professor Crutch will be talking about how combining artistic and scientific perspectives can provide a powerful platform for people living with dementia and their caregivers, while Professor Scott discusses the importance of a world of Laughter.

Guests from across the UK who work in the field of arts and dementia will also be sharing their experiences of working in care homes, leading workshops and creating joyful pieces of art.

Please note: once the festival is over, all the sessions/content will be available to watch, enjoy and share for 2 months, until 30 April 2021.

Background on Bring Me Laughter

The Dukes have been programming dementia-friendly activities for the past 7 years. Since 2019 this has included the Wellcome-funded Bring Me Laughter project, which has centred our work on understanding laughter’s role in communication between people living with dementia and their carers. This festival is the culmination of that project.

The Dukes is a member of LAP, the Lancaster Arts Partnership.
